Childhood
Born in Corvos, Kal lost his parents in the Corvosi rebellion at just a year old. He was given to Rufus and Sidra ban Venan. A young Garlean couple and good friends of his birth parents.
Growing up, Kal was teased by the other kids in his village as he was the only miqo'te there. As such he didn't have many friends.
His mother and father got him a fishing rod for his fifth Nameday. Fishing would become one of his favorite activities. Even now, Kal still loves to fish and does it as a way to relax and unwind. However, a lot of Kal's time as a child was taken up by toys. Not only did he love playing with them, recreating his favorite tales and bedtime stories, but he also loved tinkering with them too. He’d take them apart and try to rebuild them exactly. However, he would leave parts everywhere, much to the chagrin of his parents.
The Urge to Explore
When Kal was a teenager, stirred by the tales his parents read him, Kal began to explore the forests and rivers outside of his village. Sometimes he’d bring his fishing pole along and fish by himself, sometimes he’d take his bow which his father had been teaching him to use to catch some small game, and sometimes he’d only take a knife with him. Kal would find a nice branch from a tree and carve little dolls out of it. He found the motions to be relaxing. When Kal became an adult, his wanderlust became almost insatable, and so with his parents blessings, Kal left his village and headed for the Corvos Strait into Thavanair.
Kal would make his way to Yedlihmad and live for almost a month, having become a fish merchant. However, Kal wanted to explore the star and couldn't stay here forever. One night, one of the Arkasodara he was working for told him of Eorzea and their adventurers and how they made coin helping people and exploring new places. Kal hopped on the next ship to Erozea the next morning and set forth for Limsa Lominsa.
New Friends
After finishing his first job as a new adventurer, Kal met A'zhi Califei and Eadric Highwind. Two adventurers who were impressed by Kal's marksmanship skills with his bow. They asked him if would join them on their jobs. Ecstatic, Kal quickly agreed. Not long after joining Zhi and Eadric, the three would take on a job in Aurum Vale. There Kal would find an injured Morbol Seedling. The creature was far smaller than the Morbols the group had faced.
Kal took it and began to nurse back to health. The group went back to Aurum Vale to let the creature go once its injuries were healed, however, it clung to Kal’s leg, as if it didn’t want to go back. Kal ended up keeping the Morbol and naming it Lil Green.
Becoming a Machinist
When Ishgard opened its borders, Kal, Zhi and Eadric traveled to the city looking to see if anyone there needed a group of adventurers. It was there that the three of them discovered Skysteel Manufactory and their Machinists. Kal, in awe of everything there, decided he wanted to learn the ways of the Machinists. Intruiged by the job, protective of Kal or both, Zhi and Eadric joined him.
A Tragic End and New Beginnings
After several months of training, Eadric and A'zhi would loose their lives during a job in the Slyphlands to Garlean soliders. Kal rarely ever talks about it. When he does, he puts all the blame on himself. For what? no one knows...Several days afterwards, Kal had barely ate or drank anything. He never carved or built new toys either. As he was deciding if he should stay in Eorzea or return home, Kal received a letter from his mother. His parents had been sending him letters every few weeks to check up on him. His mother wrote to him that though they miss him, they were proud of the man he had become.It was then Kal made his final decision. He would continue to be an adventurer and help others however he can.
General
•You see Kal fishing in one of his favorite spots in The Shroud and start up a conversation.
•Kal likes to visit the Bismark in Limsa. You see him building what looks like a small mammet or doll. Curious, you approach him and ask.
•In Ul'dah you spy a small seeker carrying a bag. The top suddenly opens and several wood-carved dolls fall out. The purple-haired miqo'te doesn't seem to notice. You quickly pick them up and call out to him.
•You notice Kal carrying a tiny Morbol in his arms. Curious or terrified, you approach him and ask why.• You were one of the few friends Kal had during his childhood. You somehow get in contact with him and want to meet him again after over a year.
Skysteel Manufactory/Ishgard
•Kal trained as a Machinist through Skysteel and the Hounds. You knew the little miqo and his friends during that time.
•Kal and his friends had several trainers and you were one of them
•Kal use to visit The Forgotten Knight often, always ordering the apple cider, and met him through there. You two meet each other again after over a year.
Thavnair
•Kal lived in Yedlihmad for a little while as a fisherman and you were a frequent customer of his.
Adventuring
•You and Kal worked together on a job once and are meeting each other again after sometime•You and Kal are on a job together. Will you work together and get a long or try and rip each others throats out?
